IIT Jodhpur BS in Management & Technology: Fees, Eligibility, Admission and Honest Review (2026)

Research partner: College Vidya | Data sources: IIT Jodhpur BS in Management & Technology program page and program brochure and my email and phone exchange with the admissions team

The IIT Jodhpur BS in Management & Technology is a 4-year online, off-campus degree that IIT Jodhpur awards through its School of Management and Entrepreneurship, with Masai as the delivery partner. It is open to students from any Class 12 stream with no JEE, it was announced in May 2026, and Batch 1 started in July 2026. There is very little independent feedback about it yet, so this guide sticks to official sources and flags what is not confirmed.

Short answer: IIT Jodhpur awards the degree, and Masai delivers the program. That makes it a genuine IIT credential in management and technology. It is also a brand-new, online, off-campus program with no placement drive, offline end-semester exams and a ₹5.6 lakh fee. This article uses IIT Jodhpur’s official program page, the program brochure, the Government of India’s press release, public student discussions and written and phone replies from the program team, as of October 2026.

Is This a Real IIT Jodhpur Degree?

Yes, the degree is awarded by IIT Jodhpur. IIT Jodhpur is an Institute of National Importance established under the Institutes of Technology Act, 1961, as the program’s FAQ also notes, and the program is offered through the institute’s School of Management and Entrepreneurship. The Government of India press release describes Masai as collaborating with IIT Jodhpur to co-offer the program, and the program page says IIT Jodhpur designs and awards the degree and is responsible for the academic program, while Masai is the delivery partner supporting delivery and learner operations.

What the certificate says

The program team says the degree certificate mentions only that it is from IIT Jodhpur, with no reference to Masai and no “online” or “hybrid” label. The sample certificate on the program page carries a note that the original may differ, so treat this as the admissions team’s statement, not a published rule.

UGC approval: the wrong question

IITs are not governed by UGC the way private universities are. They have their own legal power to award degrees under the IIT Act, so “is it UGC approved?” is not the relevant test. The degree is a legally valid bachelor’s degree and generally meets the basic eligibility requirements for GATE, CAT/MBA and government jobs. For an MS or MBA abroad, there is no blanket guarantee: each foreign university decides on its own, so confirm with the specific university first.

What “real” does not mean

A real IIT degree is not the same as an on-campus B.Tech. This is a separate, online, off-campus program. Alumni status is provided only on completion of the full 4-year program, so students who exit after Year 3 with the 3-year BSc. should not assume they get it.

Program Overview and Curriculum

The program is a 141-credit, eight-semester degree with 47 courses. It starts with a broad base in management, technology and the social sciences and moves into strategy and specialised topics in the final year. It is aligned with NEP 2020, with a stackable structure that lets you exit with a recognised award after each year (see the exit section below). The program integrates business, technology and social sciences from the first year, and the page lists no electives, capstone project or internship.

What you study, year by year

  • Year 1, Foundations of Business and Technology (36 credits): Economic and Business History, Principles of Marketing, Foundations of Computing, Financial Accounting, Statistics for Managers, Algorithmic Thinking in Business, Introduction to Sociological Thought, Microeconomics, Introduction to Psychology, Database Management Systems, Financial Management – I, Foundations of Entrepreneurship.
  • Year 2, Core Business and Technology Skills (36 credits): Macroeconomics, Sustainability in Business, Machine Learning in Business, Micro Organizational Behaviour, Cost Accounting, Design Thinking in Business, Indian Management System, Financial Management – II, AI Applications in Business, Consumer Behaviour in Marketing, Digital Economy, Optimisation Techniques in Management.
  • Year 3, Applied Management Skills (36 credits): Generative and Agentic AI in Business, Macro Organizational Behaviour, Visualisation and Storytelling in Business, Legal Aspects, Taxation and IPR, Operations Management for Managers, Competition and Strategy, Human Resource Management, Big Data and Cloud Computing, Digital Enterprise Management, Industry 4.0, Nurturing and Managing Brands, Business Research and Analysis.
  • Year 4, Strategic Leadership and Advanced Business Management (33 credits): Corporate Governance, International Business, Introduction to FinTech, Digital Marketing Analytics and Optimisation, Supply Chain Management, Human-AI Collaboration at Work, Strategies for Firm Growth, Project Management, Money, Banking and Financial Markets, Marketing of Services, Technology Forecasting and Assessment.

The institute may review and change the curriculum, as both the page and the brochure note. In practice this is a management degree with technology and AI woven in, rather than a computer science degree: the technology courses are framed for business use (Algorithmic Thinking in Business, Machine Learning in Business, AI Applications in Business), and the published course list does not say how much programming you will actually do. Ask the program team for that detail if coding depth matters to you.

Eligibility

According to the program page and brochure, you need Class 12 or an equivalent qualification from a recognised board, in any stream, with First Division and at least 60% aggregate marks (50% for reserved categories). Key points from the FAQ:

  • No age limit, and the program is open to working professionals and students pursuing parallel degrees.
  • Current Class 12 students who have not yet appeared for their board exams cannot apply.
  • Maths is not required, and neither is JEE.
  • Admission is subject to physical document verification of your marksheets and certificates by IIT Jodhpur, and enrolment can be cancelled if a discrepancy is found at any point.

Admission Process and the Qualifier Test

The steps, in order

  1. Application: pay the ₹999 entrance test fee, complete the online application form and upload the required documents.
  2. Qualifier test: an online aptitude test (details below). Everyone has to write it.
  3. Counselling: shortlisted candidates attend a counselling session and confirm participation with a ₹5,000 seat booking amount.
  4. Admission: a provisional offer is issued, and the remaining Year 1 fee is due within 10 days.
  5. Join the program: Year 2, 3 and 4 fees are due before each academic year starts.

Qualifier test pattern

The test is conducted online and has 60 multiple-choice questions in 120 minutes, divided into three sections of 20 questions and 40 minutes each: Logical Reasoning, Verbal Ability and Numerical Ability. The numerical section covers arithmetic, percentages, ratios and related concepts, and no advanced mathematics is required. Negative marking applies, and the program page does not publish the penalty or the shortlisting rule. The admissions team says the penalty is 0.25 marks per wrong answer and that counselling is offered only to candidates who score above 40%. Treat both figures as the team’s statements, not published rules.

Seat Cap and Batches

The program page and brochure do not publish a seat cap. The admissions team says each batch has about 200 seats, and that Batch 1, which started in July 2026, has around 200 students. The brochure refers to the January 2027 intake as “Batch 2”, so this is not a first-batch-only program, but it is still a very young one. Until IIT Jodhpur publishes an official number, treat the figure as the program team’s estimate, not a confirmed cap.

Fees

ItemAmount
Entrance test (non-refundable)₹999
Seat booking amount (non-refundable; adjusted against Year 1 fee)₹5,000
Year 1 fee₹1,40,000 (₹5,000 seat booking + ₹1,35,000 balance)
Year 2 fee₹1,40,000
Year 3 fee₹1,40,000
Year 4 fee₹1,40,000
Total program fee₹5,60,000 (excluding the ₹999 test fee)
Convocation fee (one-time, at graduation)₹4,000 (indicative)
Campus immersion (optional)About ₹6,000 per immersion (indicative)

The convocation and immersion fees are paid directly to IIT Jodhpur, are not part of the program fee, and may be revised. The admissions team says the ₹5,60,000 includes GST, that the fee is fixed for all four years, and that no scholarships, EMI or education loans are available. Of these, only the fee figures appear on the program page. For a sense of scale, the total academic cost of about ₹5.64 lakh (program fee plus convocation) is higher than IIT Jodhpur’s Applied AI & Data Science online BS, which comes to about ₹4.94 lakh.

Refund policy

TimingRefund

After 1 month of classes commencingNo refund

Study Load, Exams and Duration

  • Weekly contact time: each semester has 6 courses, and each course has two recorded classes of 50 minutes and one live faculty session of 50 minutes a week. That is 15 hours of academic contact a week. Self-study, assignments and revision come on top, and the admissions team says how much is up to you.
  • Weekend live sessions: live and doubt-clearing sessions are held over the weekend, which is what makes the program workable alongside a job or another degree.
  • Exams: the admissions team says some exams are online, while end-semester exams are held offline at a nearby centre, and each professor decides the weightage of quizzes and exams for their course. Passing criteria and the process for failed courses are not published, so ask for them before you pay.
  • Duration: 4 years for the full degree, with a maximum of 6 years from enrolment to complete all requirements.

Exit Options, Deferral and No Re-Entry

The program follows a stackable, multi-exit structure under NEP 2020, with a recognised award at the end of each year:

Exit pointCreditsAward
After Year 136Certificate in Business Fundamentals
After Year 272Diploma in Management and Technology
After Year 3108Bachelor of Science (3 years) in Management and Technology
After Year 4141Bachelor of Science (4 years) in Management and Technology

Re-entry after taking an exit award is not permitted, and the program team confirmed this both in writing and on a call. In practical terms, taking the Year 3 exit ends that admission, so only exit if you are certain. Students who need a pause should apply for a deferral instead. It is possible only after successfully completing Year 1, only once, normally for up to one year and subject to approval, with 50% of the academic fee payable during the deferral. Whether the deferral period counts toward the 6-year limit is not published.

Campus Immersion

Campus immersion is optional. The program page’s “How will you learn” section mentions two optional on-campus immersion modules over the program, while its FAQ and the brochure mention an optional 3-5 day annual immersion at IIT Jodhpur, subject to Program Director approval, with a separate fee of about ₹6,000 per immersion. The page therefore describes the immersion in two slightly different ways, so confirm the current plan with the program team. The page also promises access to the institute and library as per institute guidelines, and an on-campus graduation ceremony for those who complete the four-year degree.

Placements and Career Outcomes

There is no on-campus IIT Jodhpur placement drive, and employment is not guaranteed. The program page, brochure and the program team all say career outcomes depend on individual skills, experience and the hiring market. The program is new, and no placement outcomes have been published.

  • What support exists: the admissions team says students get access to the alumni portal, where alumni can refer them to their companies, and that students have to network on their own.
  • Roles listed: the page lists Business Analyst, Product Management Associate, Operations and Supply Chain Analyst, Management Consultant and Entrepreneur/Startup Founder, and the brochure adds Operations Manager, Strategy Consultant, Data Analyst, Marketing Strategist and Product Manager.
  • Company logos: the page shows hiring companies beside each role, such as Deloitte, EY, KPMG, Amazon and Flipkart. The program team clarified that these are role examples, not a statement that these companies recruit from this program.
  • Incubation and E-Cell: students can apply to IIT Jodhpur’s Technology Innovation and Start-up Center (IITJ-TISC) for mentorship and incubation, and can take part in E-Cell activities when open to them.

Higher Studies: MBA, MS and Other Paths

The brochure lists MBA programs, a Master’s in Data Science, Business Analytics, Technology Management and Finance as potential pathways, and the page mentions M.Tech, MBA and M.Sc. It also says graduates can continue into IIT Jodhpur’s MBA Technology program, but this is not automatic. The Executive MBA Technology page lists a 60% undergraduate degree and at least two years of relevant work experience, with admission through a screening test, SOP review and interview. It is a 2-year, 66-credit online program with two campus immersions of 5-7 days each, and a fee of ₹9,15,000. Note that IIT Jodhpur’s eligibility page for the same program words the degree requirement more narrowly (B.Tech or STEM, with 4-year degrees preferred), so confirm the rule that applies to a BS graduate. The BS program page mentions no fee benefit for this route.

For an MS or MBA abroad, each university makes its own decision, so check with your target universities before relying on this degree.

Who Should Join, and Who Should Think Twice

Good fit

  • Students pursuing a parallel degree (BBA, B.Com, BA, BSc or similar) who want an IIT-branded credential in management and technology alongside it. The program page names this group explicitly.
  • Working professionals who want an IIT credential in a flexible, weekend-based format and can manage 15 hours of contact time plus self-study.
  • Competitive-exam aspirants who want a parallel degree while preparing for exams.
  • Class 12 graduates from non-science streams, including commerce and arts, who want an IIT degree route without JEE.

Weaker fit

  • Anyone expecting campus life or campus placements, since neither is part of this program.
  • Students treating it as their only degree without a fallback, because there is no placement drive and no re-entry after an exit.
  • Anyone who mainly wants hands-on AI or data science depth. If that is you, compare it with IIT Jodhpur’s Applied AI & Data Science BS before deciding.

What Students Are Saying

The program is very new, and independent student feedback is thin. In our searches as of early October 2026 we found three public Reddit threads [1] [2] [3] and one YouTube explainer [4], and we found no Quora reviews. The threads are short, with only a handful of replies each, and they come from a few accounts. These are individual, unverified opinions, and it is not always clear which IIT Jodhpur online program a commenter is enrolled in, so read them as themes to check, not conclusions.

  • Why people join: commenters mention the lower cost, the IIT Jodhpur name compared with a Tier 2 or Tier 3 college, and the chance to study alongside other plans such as writing work or CAT preparation [1] [3]. One diploma holder was weighing it against a regular Tier 2 or Tier 3 B.Tech college [1].
  • Positive or cautiously positive: one reply called the faculty generally good and the workload manageable, while advising caution before joining [1]. A prospective Batch 2 applicant said the reviews they had seen from the first batch looked fairly positive, and added that outcome data is still limited because the program is new [2]. These are not verified experiences.
  • Critical: replies from a commenter who appears to be a current online student advised against joining, citing a poor experience, weak quality, no placement support and doubts about learning management and technology from home without in-person practice. The same commenter said it could suit someone who wants a relaxed degree and does not care about placements, and that grades come from completing assignments on time [1] [3]. The same name appears in two threads, so treat it as one voice.
  • Exams: replies disagree. One said most exams are online with some on site, and another said all exams are offline [1] [3]. The admissions team says some exams are online and end-semester exams are offline at a nearby centre, so confirm the current exam format for your batch.
  • Fees: one reply claimed the fee rises every year [1]. The admissions team says the fee is fixed for all four years, so get this confirmed in writing before you pay.
  • Entrance test: applicants who had taken it described the process of getting selected and paying the seat-booking amount, and one asked whether the program is delivered by the partner or by IIT Jodhpur [2]. The YouTube explainer describes the test as basic and not needing JEE-style preparation, but it bases that on Reddit accounts, so it is not independent confirmation [4].

The YouTube explainer [4] is by an independent education creator, and its description carries a Batch 2 registration link, so read it as an informational overview, not a student review. It notes that this is a different degree and not a replacement for the offline B.Tech, that no placement is guaranteed, that it suits self-paced learners, working professionals and parallel-degree students, and that it is a poor fit for anyone wanting daily classrooms or residential campus life. It also advises checking the official page and curriculum instead of relying on Reddit threads or videos. Its fee and eligibility figures match the program page.

The learner testimonials on the program page are published by the program itself and should be read as marketing, not independent reviews. They come from students with NEET-drop-year, BBA, BA, BSc and design-college backgrounds, and mention the weekend live classes, the beginner-friendly explanation of concepts and the ability to manage the program alongside a regular degree. Before paying, speak to a current student from Batch 1 and ask about live-session quality, doubt support, exam logistics and workload.

Final Verdict: Should You Join?

The IIT Jodhpur BS in Management & Technology is a real IIT degree with real unknowns. It makes the most sense as a second degree or add-on for students from non-science streams, or as a structured upskilling path for working professionals, and it is open without JEE or Maths. It is riskier as a sole degree, because there is no placement drive, no re-entry after an exit and no outcomes data yet, and at about ₹5.6 lakh it is not cheap. Run through these five checks before you decide:

  1. Learning experience: are you comfortable with a mostly online program, with only optional campus visits?
  2. Delivery: are you fine with a partner-delivered model, and do you know who teaches the live sessions?
  3. Outcomes: do you accept that there is no placement drive and no published outcomes data?
  4. Career fit: do you want management with technology, or do you really want deeper tech skills?
  5. Recognition: have you checked eligibility against your own target, such as MBA, MS abroad or a government job?

Reminder: If you are considering an online degree, you can book 1:1 free counselling session at no cost to clear all your doubts

Frequently Asked Questions

Kya IIT Jodhpur ki online BS in Management & Technology real IIT degree hai?

Yes. IIT Jodhpur designs and awards the degree and is responsible for the academic program. Masai (Nolan Edutech Private Limited) is the delivery partner supporting program delivery and learner operations. The admissions team says the degree certificate carries only IIT Jodhpur’s name, with no mention of Masai or of online or hybrid delivery. It is a separate online, off-campus program, not the same as an on-campus IIT B.Tech.

IIT Jodhpur BS Management & Technology ki fees kitni hai?

The program fee is ₹1,40,000 per year, so ₹5,60,000 over four years, and the admissions team says GST is included. The ₹999 entrance test fee is charged separately, and the ₹5,000 seat booking amount is adjusted against the Year 1 fee. A ₹4,000 convocation fee applies at graduation, and the optional campus immersion costs about ₹6,000 each, both indicative. The admissions team says no scholarships, EMI or education loans are available.

Kya IIT Jodhpur BS Management & Technology ke liye JEE ya Maths zaroori hai?

No. JEE is not required, and Maths is not an eligibility condition. You need Class 12 or an equivalent qualification in any stream from a recognised board, with at least 60% aggregate marks (50% for reserved categories). Every applicant takes the program’s qualifier test, which has no advanced mathematics.

Qualifier test ka pattern kya hai?

The qualifier is an online test of 60 multiple-choice questions in 120 minutes, split equally into Logical Reasoning, Verbal Ability and Numerical Ability (20 questions and 40 minutes each). Negative marking applies, and the admissions team says it is 0.25 marks per wrong answer. The team also says only candidates scoring above 40% are called for counselling. Neither figure is published on the program page.

Kya main ye degree kisi aur degree ke saath kar sakta hoon?

Yes. The program page lists students pursuing a parallel degree as one of its target groups, and live and doubt-clearing sessions are held over the weekend. Plan for about 15 hours of academic contact a week plus your own study time, and check that your college exam schedule does not clash with the end-semester exams, which the admissions team says are held offline at a nearby centre.

Kya IIT Jodhpur BS Management & Technology mein placement milta hai?

No. The program does not include an on-campus IIT Jodhpur placement drive and does not guarantee employment. The admissions team says students get access to the alumni portal, where alumni may refer them to their companies, and that students need to network on their own. The companies shown on the program page are role examples, not confirmed recruiters for this program.

Kya exit lene ke baad wapas aa sakte hain?

No. Re-entry after taking an exit award is not permitted. Students who need a break can apply for a deferral, which is possible only after completing Year 1, only once, normally for up to one year, with 50% of the academic fee payable during the deferral. The maximum time to complete the program is 6 years from enrolment.

Kya campus immersion compulsory hai?

The program page describes campus immersion as optional. It mentions two optional on-campus immersion modules over the program, and elsewhere an annual 3-5 day immersion subject to Program Director approval, with a separate fee of about ₹6,000 per immersion. Confirm the current immersion plan with the program team before you enrol.

Kya IIT Jodhpur MBA Technology mein direct admission milta hai?

No, it is not automatic. IIT Jodhpur’s Executive MBA Technology page lists a 60% undergraduate degree and at least two years of relevant work experience, with admission through a screening test, statement of purpose review and interview. The program fee on that page is ₹9,15,000. The BS program page does not mention any fee waiver or fee benefit for BS graduates.
