Do not assume. <strong>Ask each university in writing.<\/strong><\/p><h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Is_an_Online_MCA_Valid_or_Fake\"><\/span>Is an Online MCA Valid or Fake?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2><p>Parents ask this first. The rules are clear.<\/p><p>Under <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/deb.ugc.ac.in\/pdf\/Final%20Amendments.pdf\">UGC&#8217;s Open and Distance Learning and Online Programmes Regulations<\/a> (2020, second amendment 2022), Regulation 22 treats UG and PG degrees from recognised institutions, whether online or distance, as <strong>equivalent to regular degrees<\/strong>. UGC&#8217;s <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/deb.ugc.ac.in\/Uploads\/Notices_Upload\/UGC_20220906102157_1.pdf\">2022 public notice<\/a> says the same. That holds only when your university <strong>and<\/strong> your programme are recognised.<\/p><p>Run these three checks before you pay.<\/p><div class=\"af-table-wrap\"><table class=\"af-table\"><thead><tr><th><\/th><th><strong>What to verify<\/strong><\/th><th><strong>How<\/strong><\/th><\/tr><\/thead><tbody><tr><td><strong>1. UGC-DEB<\/strong><\/td><td><strong>Both the university and the MCA<\/strong> are listed for <strong>your admission year<\/strong>. Thank you!&#8221;<\/p><h3>A Lesser-Known Option: SWAYAM Credit Transfer<\/h3><p>Under UGC&#8217;s <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/thc.nic.in\/Central%20Governmental%20Regulations\/UGC%20(Credit%20Framework%20for%20online%20learning%20courses%20through%20SWAYAM)%20Regulation,%202016.pdf\">SWAYAM credit regulations<\/a> (2016), an institution can allow up to <strong>20% of the courses in a programme in a semester<\/strong> to be taken through SWAYAM. Many SWAYAM and NPTEL courses are taught by IIT faculty, for example on data structures, cloud computing or machine learning. Not every university allows it, and rules differ, so <strong>ask at admission<\/strong> whether yours does.<\/p><h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_You_Learn_in_an_Online_MCA\"><\/span>What You Learn in an Online MCA<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2><p>No online MCA can turn you into a senior engineer through lectures alone. It gives you a foundation, and you build the skills yourself. It does not name online degrees, so there is <strong>no clarity<\/strong>. Ask TCS before you rely on it.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>Infosys, Accenture, HCLTech, Wipro, Capgemini, Cognizant<\/strong><\/td><td>Fresher listings from large IT firms generally accept MCA graduates.<\/td><td>Read each listing for the degree mode. We did not verify each company&#8217;s page.<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/div><p>That does not make an online MCA useless. Many IT companies, startups and product companies weigh your <strong>coding test and projects<\/strong> more than your degree mode. Ask your university for a <strong>sample degree certificate<\/strong> before you enrol, so you know whether &#8220;online&#8221; is printed on it.<\/p><p>On how employers see online degrees, a <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.researchgate.net\/publication\/370132309_Perceptions_About_Acceptability_of_Online_Degrees_in_Hiring_or_Promotion_Decisions_in_Technology_Services_Industry_in_India\">doctoral study on India&#8217;s technology services industry<\/a> interviewed 31 hiring or promotion decision-makers. <strong>71% said they saw no difference<\/strong> between online and regular degree holders when hiring.<\/p><p>If an interviewer asks, &#8220;Online MCA? Regular kyun nahi kiya?&#8221;, you can say: &#8220;I was working, so I did my MCA online from a UGC-recognised university, which UGC treats as equivalent to a regular MCA. Here are the projects I built along the way. May I show you one?&#8221; You are not defending the degree.
